Perino is Assistant Vice President for Commercial and Small Business within Business Solutions at Navy Federal Credit Union, where he leads commercial and small business teams and supports growth through business solutions that meet members’ evolving needs. Before joining Navy Federal, Larry retired as a Colonel from the United States Army after nearly 25 years of distinguished service, holding key leadership roles across multinational, joint, conventional, and special operations organizations. In 1993, while serving as a platoon leader with the 75th Ranger Regiment, Larry deployed to Somalia as part of Task Force Ranger. His unit’s actions during the Battle of Mogadishu were depicted in the book and film Black Hawk Down, and his experience is featured in the Netflix documentary Surviving Black Hawk Down. He was awarded the Silver Star for his actions during the battle. In 2026, Larry was inducted into the U.S. Army Ranger Hall of Fame, recognizing his extraordinary service, leadership, and lasting contributions to the Regiment, the Ranger community, and the nation. Colonel (Ret.) Perino transitioned to the private sector in 2015. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy, an MBA, and a master’s degree in strategic studies. He is also a certified National Credit Union Compliance Officer (NCCO), Project Management Professional (PMP), and holds a certificate in Business and Commercial Lending from the American Bankers Association. Larry lives in Gulf Breeze, Florida, with his wife, Leslie, a small business owner and principal of EW Bullock and Associates, and their three dogs. He remains active in supporting veterans and developing future leaders through the University of West Florida Senior Mentor program, the Three Rangers Foundation, and Guitars for Vets, where he serves as a guitar instructor helping veterans heal through music.
