As an “Aware” Manager – Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) you will be a part of a highly dynamic and innovative development team working on the latest technologies in the exciting fast-growing Digital Health space.  We’re a team of thinkers and innovators who constantly challenge ourselves to do everything better than the day before, so that people around the world can breathe easier.

The SRE team ensures that the product’s underlying infrastructure, data stores, and core foundational services are reliable, performant, and robust. We work closely with the engineering teams that ship features on micro-services built on AWS cloud.

The DHT SRE team is seeking scale-focused manager that will own the technology transformation of the SRE team to include existing and new services supporting the dramatic customer growth on the product. You are passionate about delivering highly scalable software in the cloud. You are passionate about the development of automation and tools around deployment, scaling, and operational processes. You understand that the quality of your work determines if someone on your team will need to answer the phone in the middle of the night.

Your job:

As Manager of the Site Reliability Engineer team, you will define and execute against the SRE strategy for the rapidly expanding Digital Health Technology group. You will use your software engineering expertise to drive operations excellence and strategy, lead the SRE team to constantly automate processes and innovate in a push to improve the reliability of the system. You will plan, design, build and maintain large scale engineering solutions. Your mission will be to increase software delivery velocity, improve service reliability, and build shared ownership among software stakeholders.

Let’s talk about responsibilities: 

Lead a team of 10-15 SRE engineers and at-least 1 SRE manager, who design, code and deliver software to increase product reliability and operations efficiency

As this is a hands-on role, you will be coding 30% of the time

Operations Excellence – drive the strategy and evangelize to software engineers

Tooling – design and develop operational tooling to support CI/CD pipeline built using AWS services like CodeDeploy, CodePipeline, and Terraform.

Monitoring and metrics — establishing desired service behavior, measuring how the service is actually behaving (availability, latency, and overall system health), and correcting discrepancies

Performance — design, development, and engineering related to scalability, isolation, latency, throughput, and efficiency.

Leverage your day-to-day experiences to provide the voice of the customer to internal AWS teams.

You will troubleshoot, reproduce and solve challenging operational issues in a complex enterprise environment running fleets of server instances interacting with multiple services across several AWS regions

• Mentor and advise the global team on matters of systems engineering and architecture best practices.

Let’s talk qualifications and experience:

Ability to substitute automation for human labor.

Ability to build proactive solutions for incident detection, response and remediation.

Prior experience designing and deploying infrastructures in a cloud-based platform (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.)

4+ years of development and automation experience in Python, Go, Ruby, Java, C++, C# or other related languages.

Prior experience identifying and solving ambiguous problems, architecture deficiencies, or areas where the team’s systems bottleneck the innovation of other teams.

Prior experience leading design, design patterns, architecture, reliability and scaling of new and current systems.

Prior experience with working within agile framework and executing processes improvement.

Systematic problem-solving approach, combined with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive

Good verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work effectively with geographically remote teams

Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline with 8+ years of experience; or Bachelor’s Degree with 12+ years of experience in design and development of multi-tiered business applications; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

5+ years of experience leading a software development team through multiple product/platform releases.

5+ years of experience making significant individual contribution to real-world SRE problems.
