Position Description:

Responsible for global security governance and the development, coordination and management oversight of security practices, policies and procedures that ensure the protection of Company personnel, assets, property, Government Classified information and information worldwide.


The most critical responsibility is the development of an enterprise-wide security strategy that is:

  • Fully integrated and coordinated with Leadership Team and all Company functions and business entities;
  • Identifies Company’s most critical risk and prioritizes security resources in a transparent and cost effective manner to mitigate and reduce these risk; and is
  • Effectively integrated and communicated throughout the enterprise and global workforce.
  • This role will provide leadership oversight, direction and enterprise-wide coordination of all global security services, including policy and procedures, executive and personnel security, physical security, intellectual property theft protection and government program requirements. Duties includes strategic planning for enterprise-wide Security programs to meet General Dynamics, corporate, local, state and federal regulations and guidelines, mitigation of  risks that impact the safety and security of $1B+ in physical assets; 15,000+ employees and visitors; 6 M+sf  of working space on approximately 686 acres, located in domestic and international locations.


Additional areas of focus:   

  • Oversees the protection of personnel and other assets throughout the corporation. Provides executive level leadership and provides oversight to the enterprise-wide security program
  • Ensures that expert security guidance, risk assessment, and best practices for all security programs is provided to corporate, business, regional/country and site management
  • Provides security, law enforcement, intelligence, threat, risks and mitigation reporting and assessments to the President, Leadership Team, managers and personnel worldwide   
  • Responsible for executive protection of the President and security protective support to other executives and employees as required
  • Responsible for anticipating external threats to employees, business locations, and intellectual property and devising effective and coordinated strategies for mitigating or removing such risk  
  • Monitors global environment for potential security threats to company personnel, sites and business operation Manages Travel Security program and is company official responsible for suspending/restricting company business travel when risk appropriate.  Ensures that all Company personnel traveling or assigned permanently overseas receive appropriate safety and security training, risks briefings and where appropriate personnel protection assistance 
  • Develops and oversees the corporate-wide security program throughout all sites to include security operations, parking, security access control, systems security, government programs, trade secret, intellectual property and information security and ensuring that programs meet appropriate regulatory guidelines
  • Develops policies and strategies for security, including but not limited to internal investigations, security operations, government programs, physical security and access control
  • Develops and delivers preventative programs and services to protect against criminal financial loss, crime against persons, sabotage, threats, emergencies, illegal acts, and property or environmental crimes
  • Ensures all GDLS classified programs are compliant with various US Government requirements, to include a counterintelligence briefing / debriefing process
  • Prepares risk and threat assessment reports and mitigation recommendations for all sites  
  • Provides strategic advice and counsel to all security employees and contractors at all sites in accordance with established organizational security policies and procedures
  • Serves as the primary investigative resource for security issues across the organization and conducts internal audits for security issues
  • Serves as the company liaison to domestic and foreign law enforcement, intelligence, and investigative agencies and professional counterparts within the industry
  • Coordinates the Security Services with Land Systems Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and support the organization’s Disaster Recovery plans (DRP) process 
  • Serves as the key security resource for the organization’s Critical Management Team, General Dynamics Security Leadership Council, Import/Export Security Compliance Officer, EHS & Security Council, IDM Governance Board and Employee Notification System Organization/group leader
  • Manages security metrics and audit program to ensure appropriate and consistent measuring, managing, and reporting risk
  • Interfaces with Defense Security Service and other government agencies for all Land System’s industrial security issues  
  • Coordinates appropriate security measures with General Dynamics Global Response Center regarding the protection of static displays of vehicles and exhibits/property/personnel and other marketing events
  • Participates in design and execution of more complex security access control projects
  • Facilitates executive-level protection for visiting dignitaries, General Dynamics and Land System Leadership team
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to improve existing security methodologies, processes or other security related performance
  • Builds, fosters and promotes positive relationships among key stakeholders internal and external to security necessary for success
  • Develops and manages the capital and expense budget for the unit’s worldwide security operations
  • Briefs executive management on status of security issues, both international and domestic


Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor and/or post graduate degree(s) relevant to identified security responsibilities or related field and significant, demonstrated executive management experience in Government Security Services such as Department of State Security, corporate security, law enforcement, security, intelligence organizations or total equivalent
  • Fifteen (15) years of relevant experience required 
  • Experience in executive management, law enforcement and security matters should include significant international experience and incumbent must have demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex organizations with international security responsibilities
  • Significant experience in white-collar crime, property crime, counterterrorism, economic espionage and protection of intellectual property, cyber-crime, executive protection and crisis management 
  • Possess ability to influence, communicate and interact effectively with senior management as well as peers and an international employee population.  Must be a leader capable of  developing a global security capability and communicating security related concepts, awareness, training and implement change within a global work environment.    Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as proficient computer skills and maintain knowledge of all applicable laws and government regulations, company policies and procedures
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Authorized to work in the United States
