This position is in the General Dynamics Land Systems division.


Position Description:

  • Lead, develop and recommend innovative contracting strategies, concepts, techniques and principles in accordance with federal and contractual requirements.
  • Serve as an Advisor to the organization on all assigned contractual matters, policies, plans and objectives recommending changes as necessary.
  • Considered a subject matter expert on procurement regulations while keeping on top of regulatory changes.
  • Develop risk mitigation plans to ensure compliance to federal and contractual requirements.
  • Develop innovative solutions to complex contractual matters consistent with organizational and company objectives recommending changes when necessary.
  • Manage, guide and oversee Contract Administrators whom act as the company’s official authority to obligate the company as it relates to all contract administration such as contract management (award and execution), audit, proposal preparation and negotiations, drafting of modifications, correspondence, customer interfaces, providing guidance and interpretation on terms and conditions as well as risks and opportunities and coordination of export licensing and ITAR requirements.
  • Participate, oversee and advise team in the preparation of quotations, bids and proposals, requests for estimates and all other required contract administration documentation identifying and balancing risk to company objectives.
  • Customer interface with applicable contracting commands leadership team – responsible to develop and maintain effective customer relationships at all levels of their organization.  Promote the voice of the customer while balancing company objectives.
  • Be an active member of the internal program team (IPT) and promote a cooperative, supportive working environment with all of the programs cross functional teams.
  • Mentor and develop staff while providing leadership to achieve the goals of the market, strategic guideposts of GDLS, Vision Story and company charters. Establish for your role and participate in succession planning for the department.
  • Guide team through prioritization of tasks to ensure business and strategy goals are met.
  • Develop and recommend initiatives to achieve operational excellence in the department and throughout company interfaces.


Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Science or appropriate Liberal Arts. Other degrees or disciplines considered with experience.  Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 10 years minimum experience, 7 years with an advanced degree or GDLS experience.
  • Represent the organization in a highly professional manner and can be relied upon to exemplify company values and standards when dealing with internal and external clients.
  • Ability to develop and maintain key relationships with Senior leadership and external customers, including TACOM, USG, DCMA, DCAA
  • Strong working knowledge of Government contract laws and regulations preferred (e.g. FAR/DFAR/CAS, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills among all senior levels of Organization
  • Savvy at balancing competing internal objectives to mitigate risk and maximize value.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Preferred experience with Contracts, FAR, DFAR, negotiation, TINA, Subcontracts, Purchasing, Law, Legal 
  • Required Education Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts; Preferred Education Juris Doctor, Master of Arts, Master of Business Admin
