D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI) seeks a resourceful individual to join its team as an analyst. The analyst will help augment investing efforts in the renewable energy space. DESRI has successfully built three industry-leading renewable energy companies within the firm, including First Wind, Deepwater Wind, and DESRI. The group has raised over $15 billion of debt and equity capital, and actively acquires, develops, and manages long-term contracted renewable energy assets in North America; DESRI also currently owns and/or operates over 4,500 MWac of capacity in operation or under construction, with an additional pipeline of projects in excess of 2 GW. What you’ll do day-to-day:
The analyst will be responsible for building financial models to support management investment decisions, with a focus on modeling project returns, optimizing capital structure, identifying risks and potential upside, and presenting analytical findings in a clear and concise manner. Additionally, the analyst will be responsible for maintaining financial models throughout the deal-closing process, assisting the team on due diligence for new projects, and supporting the asset management team on project models, annual budgets, and compliance issues.
Who we’re looking for:
• Candidates should have zero to three years of experience, as well as intermediate-level capabilities in financial modeling.
• An impressive record of academic and professional achievement, excellent communication skills, the ability to collaborate well with a small team, exceptional organizational skills when working on multiple projects, and a high level of overall motivation are all vital to this role.
• A demonstrated interest in and experience with the renewable energy space is a plus but not required.
